Research Project:

Inositol (pyro-)phosphates serve essential tasks in eukaryotic cells, such as phosphate storage and second messaging. However, not only the macroscopic function, but also the metabolic pathways that lead to it are of great pharmaceutical importance. To investigate these, my work deals with the synthesis of 18O-labelled inositol phosphates and their application in Caco-2 cells simulating the human intestinal epithelium.
